Rik Mayall Interview
Rik was interviewed in The Observer Newspaper on Sunday, read the story here. Rik reveals he starts filming the Harry Potter film in January which is why the play A Family Affair isn’t going onto the West End.

Harry Potter Movie
Its been confirmed that Rik is going to star in the Harry Potter film as Peeves the Poltergeist. In the UK the film will be know as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and in the US it will be called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

Merlin The Return

SYNOPSIS
In ancient times, the vast army of the evil sorcerer, Mordred (CRAIG SHEFFER, star of The River Runs Through It and Some Kind of Wonderful) brought the legendary King Arthur Pendragon (PATRICK BERGIN of Sleeping with the Enemy and Patriot Games) and his Knights of the Round Table to their knees.
In desperation, Merlin, the Wizard (RIK MAYALL from Drop Dead Fred, Whoops Apocalypse and UK TV smash hit, The Young Ones) used the immense power of Stonehenge to banish Mordred to the Netherworld. He then consigned Arthur and his knights to a long, dark sleep, promising future generations that Arthur would be on-hand to save the world should Mordred ever escape to threaten it again.
Fifteen hundred years later, Merlin's spell is the subject of legend . . . and is weakening.
Scientist, Joan Maxwell (TIA CARRERE from True Lies and Wayne's World 1 and 2) is
experimenting with the magnetic flows of the Earth, the precise source of Merlin's magic. She has made contact with Mordred and in return for his promise of power, she is using her
knowledge to free the sorcerer from his prison.
Fourteen-year old Ritchie Gould is plunged into the age-old battle when his father dies and
Ritchie's mother moves them to her former home in England.
When Ritchie arrives, Merlin's spell is already all but destroyed by Maxwell's meddling. Arthur and his knights are awake, fifteen hundred years out of place, and Mordred is preparing to forge a dimensional gate to freedom. The only thing standing between Mordred and success are the ragged loyalties of Lancelot (ADRIAN PAUL of Highlander, Colbys and Dynasty fame) and Guinevere whom Merlin banished along with him.
In a tale of myth, mythology, demons and duels spanning fifteen centuries, the forces of good and evil once more do battle. And at stake is the world as we know it.

A Family Affair
Rik is starring in ‘A Family Affair’ @ three theatres this Winter. Story details from UK Theatre Web - A family get-together like no other. Henry's mother, brother and sister-in-law turn up to celebrate a birthday. But Henry has missed his brother's crucial television appearance, his mother has brought the most inappropriate present and his younger sister is in trouble with both her boss and her secret boyfriend. Poor Henry is at the end of his tether, only to discover his wife has disappeared and his favourite dog seems about to breathe its last. Andy de la Tour - with whom Rik toured in 1983 and again in 1989 / 90 - will be directing the play.

Merlin: The Return
Rik’s film Merlin 2000 will now be called Merlin: The Return and is intended to be released in UK cinemas around Christmas 2000. The film is primarily a family film but those who have seen the internal screenings of the film say its classic Rik. Those working with Rik are Tia Carrere (from Waynes World 1 and 2) as the scientist Joan Maxwell, Patrick Bergin (from Sleeping with the Enemy) as King Arthur and Adrian Paul (from Highlander) as Lancelot.

Blackadder - CD-ROM
Multimedia company called Fifth Dimension are creating a Blackadder CD-Rom - to be released at the end of the year. The CD-ROM is going to contain sketches from the series and we get to chose which ones are included. All you have to do is send an e-mail to ‘Mad Gerald’ with your favourite Blackadder sketches/scenes and he’ll pass them on. Send your emails to: sketches@blackadderhall.co.uk. Cannes Film Festival
Rik is starring in a new film called ‘Kevin of the North’, it will be produced by Thomas Hedman and starts shooting this summer - June 12th - in Vancouver, Canada. The film is a 15 million dollar comedy starring Skeet Ulrich, Natasha Henstridge, Leslie Nielsen and Rik Mayall. It will be directed by Bob Spiers who directed 'Spiceworld’

Blackadder - The Movie
There are reports in last weeks Guardian that a full-length Blackadder movie is to be made. Blackadder will be a pop manager who misses out on signing the Beatles, he signs the band that were on the night after The Beatles. It is reported that Tony Robinson will be play Rick the band's bald drummer, Hugh Laurie, Tim McInnerney and Rik Mayall will make up the rest of the band. It is not yet known when the film will go into production.

Rik will star as a hostage crisis expert called Simon Reid, in the first episode of the new series.
